Mapsource is the PC software that you use for routing, sending routes to the GPS, etc - it doesn't run on the GPS. The GPS has more up to date maps on it than the ones on the original MapSource CD, so I have nice detailed and (almost) up to date maps on the GPS (just 1 step behind the latest version I think), but I can't load the maps from the GPS to MapSource. Mapsource tells me it needs City Navigator 2013.1. Does this mean I have to buy the map just to get it on my PC, even though it's on the GPS already? Or is there a way round it? - The base map is just too basic and I need the detaled map on Mapsource for route plotting etc.

I've tried this and it still says in bottom right coner of the map that the map detail is locked (even when I have selected CityNavigator as the map, rather than just the base map) and Basecamp pops up a dialogue box asking me to unlock my maps. When your Zumo starts up, do you get a message saying 'map detail is locked'? If not, it is unlocked on your device. Plug your Zumo into the PC, start Basecamp.
You will then see your Zumo in the Navigator on the left hand side. What's on the Zumo (CN 2012.3) isn't showing as an option. I'm not usually a complete numpty, but this has got me foxed. Now I just need to spend some time learning how to use Basecamp. Personally I've found it to be one of the most user-unfriendly pieces of software I've ever used, I've gone back to plotting my routes on Autoroute Express and converting them with ITN converter to gpx files to then use in Basecamp / send to Zumo. Even then have to recalculate in Basecamp as they show up as straight lines between waypoints when imported. As long as there's enough waypoints in it all recalculates fine onto the wanted roads.
